When people talk about mental health it can be seen as negative and a sign of weakness especially if you are a man. Some believe it will only happen to other people but it’s a fact every single one of us experiences mental health as after all we are all human beings with feelings and emotions that we go through in life. I am not saying that mental health that everyone has a negative mental health condition, but people need to understand everyone else is going through something. The truth is a person might have a number of factors that contribute such as emotional, chemical or environmental conditions that people live with there are too many to list in the blog but trust me it could be anything that contributes to their state of mind.
This week is mental health awareness week and what I'd like to touch on is social isolation and the importance of feeling a sense of community and belonging. This is less talked about in a mental health context as I mentioned at the start but I believe this is essential to people's wellbeing and happiness. Yeah, you probably can go through life without being sociable and not want to take part in activities that are out of your comfort zone but you may be missing out on laughter and enjoyment that can make life a little bit better at the end of the day.
Personally, I love the Man Cave it’s such a great set-up and I'm so happy that I ever came across it. It's a social gathering each week where people come together to talk about anything as nothing is really off limits. We often descend into ripping each other and winding everyone up, but all in good jest, lol.
The main message I want to say is having people around you and people that you can count on will help your wellbeing, and you in general, feel great.
So my challenge to you is this: go out and find your thing! Whether it's a sport, a hobby, or a club (the Man Cave meets online every Thursday 5 pm UK time), there's bound to be something out there that you'll enjoy. And who knows, you might just make some new friends along the way!
